Microline Resolution Target
The RIT Microline Resolution Target is an effective tool used for monitoring daily performance of film or plate-making. It is used to determine proper exposure, processing, tone reproduction, exposure latitude, and resolving power of both positive and negative working light sensitive systems. It helps to quickly evaluate an unknown film or plate.
The target consists of three sections: a calibrated 150 LPI (60 LPC) halftone gray scale; small highlight and shadow dots, and a section with microlines (LPI = lines per inch, LPC = lines per centimeter). Cost: $65

Large Size Resolution Targets
RIT-PAL has been producing large size Air Force targets for almost 30 years. While they have been screen printed in the past, RIT-PAL has developed a wide format inkjet digital production method. This involved creating a new digital file, which allowed us to develop a new target. We were able to hand code a PostScript file that permits fine tuning of bar widths, image size, and density of the bars. The basic design of the target is identical to the previous analog targets. The specifications published by RIT which were based on a report by the Naval Surface Weapons Center were followed. The new technique assures a close adherence to the theoretical design specifications of the target. Cost: $250. Available in high, medium, or low contrast.

Screen Pattern Analyzer
The RIT Screen Pattern Analyzer is a device for determining the screen ruling and screen angle of a halftone image. The Screen Pattern Analyzer is a piece of film that can be placed over a print and roatated until the bottom line of the film aligns with the bottom edge of the image. Several morié patterns in the form of crosses appear. The arms of the crosses that are aligned with the radial lines of the fan indicate screen angle. The center of the crosses indicate the screen ruling at the circular lines of the fan, in lines per inch. Available in multiple sizes, credit card size $10, all others $20.

This is a device used to determine the screen ruling of printed samples or films. It consists of a fan of tapered lines, which are placed over a sample and rotated until a moriépattern in the form of a cross appears. On printed samples, the color of the cross indicates the color of the printed being checked. Each color uses different screen angles, and the indicator needs to be rotated to align the center line with the direction of the screen dots. The angle of the Screen Ruling Indicator will therefore also indicate the screen angle of that color, relative to a chosen baseline. Cost: $10.
