A cornerstone of the G7 Calibration method for the process color inks (CMYK) to conform to international standards, specifically ISO 12647-2. This standard defines the color of lithographic inks on various paper grades. However, it is necessary to characterize the inks independently of the paper. ISO 2846-1, instead, defines the color and transparency of lithographic inks within a specific ink film thickness range. Inks that conform to this standard will produce a similar color on the same substrate when printed at the appropriate ink film thickness.
